MEDIUM WAVE QUARTZ INFRARED HEATERS
Medium Wave Quartz Infrared Heaters are ideal for surface heating and drying applications, such as curing coatings, paints, dyes, lacquers, and adhesives, as well as processing plastic sheets and films. These heaters are available with clear or opaque quartz tubes and come with gold or ceramic reflective coatings to focus the emitted energy directly onto the substrate, enhancing heating efficiency.
Operating Features
The filament temperature of medium wave emitters ranges from 850°F to 2150°F (454°C – 1177°C), with the majority of energy emitted in the electromagnetic spectrum’s 2 to 4-micron range. Medium wave emissions are not as deeply penetrating as shortwave infrared, making them especially effective for applications where absorption by water films, plastics, and solvents is required.
Although medium wave heaters respond more slowly to changes in process requirements and have a slower heat-up and cool-down time compared to shortwave lamps, they offer significant benefits in continuous processes due to their long lifespan and consistent performance.
Construction
Medium Wave Quartz Infrared Heaters are sold as standalone units or combined into multiple emitter cassettes, also referred to as IR Modules. These heaters feature a screw connection with a ceramic cap to protect the terminals, ensuring durable and reliable performance. Their longer response time and energy profile make them well-suited for steady, ongoing industrial applications.
